Kalfus & Nachman PC is pleased to announce that our 4th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway was a tremendous success – and even caught the attention of our local news media!
During the event this past Saturday, 13News Now visited our Norfolk office to capture the energy, generosity, and community spirit that defined this year’s event.

This year’s event marked our largest yet, with more than 2,000 backpacks handed out to students across Hampton Roads and surrounding areas. Each bag was filled with school essentials like paper, pencils, and notebooks. With rising costs on everything from groceries to gas, we know that small gestures like these can make a big difference at the start of a new school year.
But the event was about more than just supplies. Families were welcomed with music, food trucks, games, and a vibrant performance from the Maury High School Band, who brought incredible energy to the day. In appreciation, we proudly presented a $1,000 donation to the Maury High School Band Association as a small thank-you for helping make the event special.
As Firm President Paul Hernandez shared with 13News Now:
“Anybody can write a check and say they did something charitable. This is different. This is our staff out here, and for them, it’s personal.”
We’re grateful to the many families who joined us, and to the volunteers, team members, and partners who helped make this event possible. More than 1,000 families came through our doors that morning, and the impact was felt by all. Events like this are a reminder that we’re not just here to represent people after life-changing accidents. We’re here to support them before they even step into a classroom.
