Driver Struck and Killed on I-64 Identified

Raymond Canaday, 61 of Richmond, was identified as the driver struck and killed by a car running off the road on eastbound I-64 near the Richmond International Airport, Henrico County. The crash happened shortly after 9 am.

Canaday had pulled over his 2008 Escalade with the attached trailer on the emergency shoulder of I-64 and exited the vehicle when he was hit by a 2013 Hyundai Azera, Mary Fox, 66, of Newport News.

Canaday was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, while Fox was taken to MCV hospital for her injuries.

The crash—which at one point closed all area interstate lanes—is still being investigated.
