On August 5, 2014 a Dinwiddie County man was charged with driving under the influence after he crashed into an eastbound pickup truck on U.S. Rt. 460, killing the passenger in his truck, that passenger was his wife. Virginia State Police said that Julie L. Durham, 40, died at VCU Medical Center after the crash.
South Hampton Roads was horrified with the tragedy that occurred in Virginia Beach on April 16, 2014, when the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder had been headed west on Sandbridge Road when her car veered off the right side of the road, She overcorrected, and the car slid sideways across the center line. An oncoming Toyota Tacoma pickup struck the Nissan, sending it into the woods, where it came to rest on the driver’s side. Four people died of their injuries, two people sustained life threatening injuries . Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. The driver was going 62 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to the police crash report. No one was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
On Saturday night in Hampton, Lennie Bulonza Perry, the driver who survived a deadly two-vehicle accident Saturday night has been charged as a repeat offender of driving under the influence and additional charges are pending. The accident occurred at the intersection of Magruder Boulevard and Hampton Roads Center Parkway in Hampton, VA
The driver of the second vehicle, George Edward Neselrod Jr., 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was driving a 1998 Ford Escort that collided with a 2001 Ford Explorer turning from Magruder onto Hampton Roads Center Parkway, driven by Perry. Hampton police said they are continuing to investigate the crash, and additional charges are pending.
