Today at Kalfus & Nachman we are observing Annual World Elder Abuse Day. The event is being organized by NCEA (National Center on Elder Abuse), directed by the U.W. Administration on Aging, which launched a campaign in 2005 (Join Us in the Fight Against Elder Abuse). This campaign will be featured at movie theaters around the US through from May 28th - June 24th, 2010. Here in the US the day is focused on education and heightening awareness as more and more Americans are becoming seniors.
To help in spreading the word, we are sharing with our bloggers the significance of reporting elder abuse. Many elderly individuals are sensitive to their immediate caretakers and would never confide with anyone on the caretakers abuse against them. Instead, they live in fear and tolerate the pain and mental anguish.
