Mr. Aufenger completed his undergraduate studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1977 before earning his law degree from the College of William and Mary Marshall-Wythe Law School in 1983. A native of Virginia, he is active in his local community, and in his time off, he enjoys traveling, surfing, playing squash, sailing, and spending time with his family.
