Our team at Kalfus & Nachman PC is pleased to announce that our annual back-to-school backpack giveaway is coming back for its fifth year!
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, we will once again welcome local families as we provide backpacks and school supplies to help children start the school year prepared. What began as a community giveaway has grown into an important yearly event for our firm, and we are proud to continue it in 2026.
Last year’s event was our biggest yet. We distributed more than 2,000 backpacks to students across Hampton Roads and surrounding areas. The event also brought the community together with music, games, food trucks, and a lively performance by the Maury High School Band. We are grateful for the support that made that event such a success, and we look forward to building on that momentum this year.
This year, we are also excited to add an educational component to the event. The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center has confirmed that it will attend with its Turtle Trek Outreach Program, which will be presented during the giveaway at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. Through hands-on exploration and marine science biofacts, Turtle Trek gives children and families an opportunity to learn about turtles, their habitats, and conservation efforts in an engaging, interactive setting. We are proud to be growing the event in ways that make it not only helpful for families but enriching for children as well.
As the event continues to grow, we are looking forward to welcoming more community partners and creating an even stronger experience for local families this year.
