Coming to the
Virginia Beach Oceanfront August 6th - 9th, 2014

The competition includes a swim, run swim run, paddle board, iron guard, beach flag, distance run and swim and relay competition.

They are expecting approximately 1000-1500 lifeguard and Junior Lifeguard competitors from around the country. The event will be televised on the Universal Sports Broadcast Network in September. Join Kalfus & Nachman as we honor our lifesavers in the water.

Mary Louise Murray Joins Kalfus and Nachman, PC Full-Time as Business Development & Marketing Director

Kalfus & Nachman, PC is pleased to announce that they have brought Mary L. Murray, MBA on to the firm full-time, as their Business Development & Marketing Director. Mary has worked with the firm since 2009 in a part-time role.

Mary has worked with the firm on several projects before joining in her new full-time role, the re-launch of the web-site in Spring 2014, responsible for oversight web based campaigns and website management, collaborating content for the “Legal Matters” segments aired on the Hampton Roads Show Fox43, 1st Market AACM Radio Buy in the Market DMA and organized several local sponsorships.

She brings over 17 years of senior level marketing experience to the firm. As an advertising agency professional she oversaw media purchases for the largest DMA's in the country (New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Norfolk) on top radio stations WBLS, HOT 97, etc.  She was hired by the City of Portsmouth, in 2005 to structure and lead the Marketing Department all agency initiatives for all City Departments, including the Portsmouth Convention and Visitors Bureau, Economic Development, Museums, etc.  She was also, the first marketing manager for “Dollar Tree Stores”, the nation’s largest dollar store retailer headquartered in Chesapeake, VA.

Her educational background includes a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Norfolk State University, in Norfolk and MBA from Averett University in Danville, VA .

In her full time role she will be responsible for the firm’s marketing strategy, internal and external communications, business development and brand. She will work with a number of the firm’s agencies to target key sectors and publicize firm.

She currently enjoys taking care of her 4 year old granddaughter, as her daughter is serving in the United States Army at Ft. Wheeler in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Firm is honored Neal C. Schulwolf receives reappointment by Governor Terry McAuliffe

Kalfus & Nachman PC is honored that Neal C. Schulwolf, has been reappointed for another three year term (2014-2016) by Governor Terry McAuliffe to the Board of Directors of the Virginia Birth Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program.  The Virginia Birth Related Neurological Injury Program helps parents take care of children who suffer neurologic injuries during child birth. The Program covers what insurance and other programs don’t — medically necessary expenses such as medical expenses, hospital expenses, rehabilitation expenses, in-home nursing care and much more.  Neal was first appointed to the board in June of 2011 by Governor Bob McDonnell.

Thomas A. Fitzgerald Joins Law Firm Kalfus & Nachman  

NORFOLK, VA, June 4, 2014 – The law office of Kalfus & Nachman announced today that Thomas A. Fitzgerald has joined its firm. Tom is a native in Hampton Roads, born and raised in Newport News, VA.  He graduated from Menchville High School in 1981 and graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1985, with a double major in U.S. History and Politics.  He then attended the Marshall – Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, graduating in 1988.  Tom joined the firm of West, Stein, West and Smith in Newport News in 1988.  During his fifteen years at the firm which later became Stein and Smith, P.C., Tom handled complex personal injury and insurance litigation in Circuit Courts throughout Virginia and in U.S District Courts in Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond and Baltimore.  Tom also argued appellate matters before the Virginia Supreme Court and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.  Reported decisions include Nationwide Mut. Ins. Co. v. Hargraves, 405 S.E.2d 848, 242 Va. 88 (Va., 1991),  Gallop Leasing Corp. v. Nationwide Mut. Ins. Co., 418 S.E.2d 341, 244 Va. 68 (Va., 1992) , Nationwide Mut. Ins. Co. v. Smelser, 563 S.E.2d 760, 264 Va. 109 (Va., 2002),  Nationwide Mut. Fire Ins. Co. v. Rezainik, 522 S.E.2d 370, 258 Va. 491 (Va., 1999),    In 2003, Tom left private practice to open and manage a local law office serving Eastern Virginia and in 2010 became the managing attorney for Richmond Office, as well.   In his spare time, Tom enjoys cycling, golfing and coaching church league basketball in Newport News, where he lives with his wife and family.
