GM Recalls Have Extended to 2014-2015 Models

In May, it was announced that General Motors (GM) would be paying a $35 million dollar settlement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). NHTSA found that GM was aware of faulty ignitions in vehicles, but didn't make the recalls known to owners of these vehicles. After this recall being linked to at least 13 deaths, GM is being forced to pay out the settlement.

Due to delaying the announcement of the recall, GM is also now undergoing government investigations into their recall procedures.

Along with this faulty ignition recall, there have been recently released GM recalls for faulty shifted cables, air bag welds, fire hazards on vehicles, and faulty lap belts.

In addition to older vehicles being associated with these recalls, the recalls are now extending into brand new 2014-2015 models including:

  • Pontiac G6
  • Chevrolet Malibu
  • GMC Acadia
  • Buick Enclave
  • Saturn Outlook

GM seems to be continuing the detailed investigations into their vehicles and creating multiple rounds of recalls. The recalls don't seem to be ending as the company has now recalled twice as many cars as it sold in 2013.

While there were deaths linked to the faulty ignition recalls, there haven't been any deaths associated with the other recalls yet.
