Helping to make a Safe Environment to Trick or Treat in 2009

Wrapping up 2009, we can not forget the tireless effort of the Portsmouth Police Department here at Kalfus and Nachman. Each year the Portsmouth Police Department opens up Safety Town located on Deep Creek Blvd, in Portsmouth, VA to kids and offers them a safe and friendly environment to trick or treat. Safety Town is a gate enclosed child-sized city provided by Portsmouth Police Department that provides a venue for kindergarten and first grade children to learn pedestrian safety and for third graders to learn bicycle safety. The goal is the reduction of accidents in our local neighborhoods. The Safety Town Committee is made up of community volunteers, educational and law enforcement practitioners. This year Kalfus and Nachman joined in by donating over 200 pounds of candy, which served approximately 550 children from ages 1-10, and approximately 1500 people total. Thanks again to all those who serve!!!
